Answer
Fresh fish has a very short shelf life, but canning it allows us to eat fish at any time of the year and in any temperature. How does this process of canning work, and what are the steps involved? I will now describe how fish is canned.

After the fish is sent to the cannery, it is cleaned carefully and some parts are removed. The fish is washed thoroughly, and then drained. The next stage is soaking in salt. This helps to preserve the fish. Next, the fish is put into cans which are then sealed with lids. The cans of fish are then heated in large pressure cookers. This kills the bacteria and ensures that the fish remains safe to eat. After the tins cool, labels are added and the cans are put into boxes. Finally, the boxes are stored in a warehouse, ready for delivery to wholesalers and retail outlets.

Canning fish enables people everywhere to enjoy healthy great-tasting food. Why not try some tuna or salmon in a sandwich today!

Are You Unhappy At Work?
By SiliconIndia, Thursday, 02 June 2011, 19:07 IST

Bangalore: Now that is a billion dollar question that every working person would like to answer. A Deloitte's Shift Index survey revealed that about 80 percent of people are dissatisfied with their jobs. While some of you would muster up the courage to change your careers, while some of you would like to grin and bear it. But considering the fact that we spend a lions share of our waking hours at our workplaces, don't you think that we need to improve the quality of where and how we spend 80 percent of our time?

So where do we start with, the number of things that make us unhappy at work?

Studies say that looking up for leadership, job satisfaction, communication, teamwork and work environment are the top five commitment drivers for employees and it is not the fat pay checks which interest the employees. Quality of workplace relationships, lack of meaningful recognition, an ineffectual manager, lack of opportunity to progress or learn new skills, ideas being ignored, are some of the drivers which make unhappy employees.

So the challenge is how to tackle the unhappiness? Even though you desperately want to quit to get away from your horrible workplace, you may be hesitant to actually do anything about it because there are other thoughts which hold you back from taking such a crude step. And of course there is no guarantee that the next job you join will be all smooth as well. It is always good to "make hay while the sun shines", so how do you stop yourself from quitting, at least for a little longer?

You need to first build the right attitude. Accept that this job is not where you want to be, even if you can't make a change today. But begin taking steps to change things.

It is actually not the absence of the stressors that will make us happy, but the attitude that we carry towards them that matters. Your personality structure has to be altered to address your unhappiness. You need to address your unhappiness and experience in a deeper perspective and should not try to solve things too quickly.

Be proactive. Brainstorm with trusted friends and family members about your ideas. If there's something you'd like to change, decide whether your boss is approachable and if so, the best tactics to use.
Make a list of the good points about your job. Listing what you do like about your job will help shift your perception and keep you from feeling so trapped. You could also try learning a new skill like make a list of things that you not suppose to say to your boss to avoid encounters.

If you feel you have your reached the saturation point and are about to burst, the one option is to seek out your company's Employee Assistance Program (EAP) if it has one. EAPs counsel you and may even provide solutions to your problems at work. The problem could be that you not able to vent out you problems, but once you do, the relief of sharing helps you think for solutions. EAP's also maintain your problems confidentially.

Whatever your reasons for being unhappy, you need to maintain your professionalism and prevent a bad attitude from sabotaging you.

With health care expenditure mounting due to several varying factors, the need for having a personal health regime is generally felt and many people are found to be turning towards healthy lifestyle practices.
Essay 060
• How common is this tendency in your place?
• What do you think are the factors that keep the medical bills spiraling up?

Today, people are much more conscious of their health than those in the past. This could be attributed to the mounting healthcare bills. There are several factors that lead to these spiraling bills, and, it is common in our place too.

There are several indicators that show that, in our place too, people are conscious of their health and many are ready to adopt healthy lifestyle practices. Firstly, it is the health clubs and fitness centres mushrooming around us. For example, there are health-clubs incorporated, independent and personal ones at apartment buildings, private sector organizations and in individual homes. Secondly, many people are frequenting play grounds and sports facilities to keep themselves fit and thereby cut down on medical bills. Thirdly, today people are choosier about their food habits. All these prove that healthy lifestyle tendencies are making a come back around us too.

When it comes to those factors that lead to the rising medical bills, first and foremost reason I find is the industrialization of medical care. As the government is unable to provide health care for all, private participation takes place, and their aim is to make money. Naturally, they charge huge bills for services, particularly super-specialty services. This situation is made more complicated by the obsessive attitude of people towards their health. They are ready to pay hefty sums for keeping themselves alive for at least a day more.

To conclude, being healthy has always been important in all societies down the ages, but lately, the socio economic changes and hectic lifestyles have made many people ignore this fact. However, it is good to know that people are going back to healthy lifestyle practices.

Longer and harder working hours with hefty pay packages and fewer and flexible working hours with decent pays are the two options today’s professionals are left to choose from.
Essay 004
• What do you think are the major advantages these two options offer for professionals?

Today, professionals are inundated by opportunities, but when it comes to work pattern and remuneration, their choice is limited. Longer and harder days may bring in huge pays, but flexible work may not be that attractive. However, there are brighter sides for both.

The first proposition makes me say that, in today’s skyrocketing cost of living and consumeristic world order, a hefty pay package would do great benefit to professionals. Those, who are ready to have extra times back in their office and are ready to bear a little occupational hazards, will climb up higher career rungs at shorter periods, enjoy personal satisfaction, achieve material success and social status. Above all, such professionals will pick up a work culture of extreme hard work. Hard work! It does pay.

Coming to flexible and fewer working hours, the primary advantage is that such people will be able to enjoy better work life balance. This is very important today, because, great number of professionals find their life miserable due to their inability to take their profession and life in an even manner. Therefore, when there is enough balance, there is more to life than to profession. Thereby, profession becomes part of life. Above all, such employees will pick up the art of meeting both ends meet with whatever they earn out of shorter flexible working hours.

Looking at both the choices, I find it right to conclude that it is a matter of how one looks at these career choices. It is not how long or how hard he or she works; rather it is how one takes one’s job that matters most. It’s all about attitude.

All centres of learning need to include private sector HR personnel in their curriculum committee because they are the ones who decide on the skill-sets and qualifications required for the changing needs of modern employment environment.
• Do you think it is a good idea? If yes, state reasons.• What are the changes you see in today’s employment environment? The idea of including HR personnel in the curriculum committees is gaining popularity all over the world. This is a good idea too, because modern employment environment is governed more by private sector than by public sector, and the former is witnessing great changes as well.

It is a good idea primarily because, Private Sector organizations are the biggest employment providers. They demand excellent quality and skill-sets from prospective candidates who seek employment with them. For example; private sector employers offer huge pay packs because they want to get their done professionally. So in order to ensure that professionalism, all centres of learning need to include a few HR personnel in their curriculum committee so that the latter can suggest the type of quality they expect of candidates whom the centres groom out.
This is much important today than it was before because today’s privates sector employment environment is witnessing great changes almost on a daily basis. The major change is the arrival of IT enabled services in offices. Secondly, there is rising competition between organizations and this demands all employees to be competent and up-to-date. Thirdly, new jobs are emerging everyday, and these jobs demand newer skills and qualifications. So it is change and the need for change all the way. The above points make it clear that education needs to be employment oriented, and the need for including HR personnel is more important today than it was yesterday. Looking at the changes in today’s career scenario centres of leaning need to keep better rapport with employment providers. 45 words255 Words jaypees. 11.40 am 6/4/09
