Health hazards like tobacco and alcohol products are legally sold by the State and the victims of this abuse are a problem for all societies. So it is argued that it is the job of the State to rehabilitate these addicts as the latter is the primary beneficiary by way of tax.
How far can you agree with this?
It is a fact that tobacco and alcoholic products are sold legally and many people get addicted to the same. But when it comes to rehabilitating the addicted, it is difficult for the State to do the whole job. However, the State has to provide medical care to its people. 45 words
First of all, we need to understand that State endorses the sales of these substances because it is a huge source or revenue and the manufacturing and marketing of these products is as old as human habits, and we cannot simply stop it. Secondly, no State is asking its citizens to buy these health hazards. Rather all harmful products carry messages on them warning the user that it is harmful. Still people use them and become addicts. Therefore, the state cannot be held fully responsible for the rehabilitation of substance abuse victims. 85 words
However, we cannot forget the fact that the revenue the government collects is used for the welfare of the people. When it comes to the welfare of the State, it is the welfare of the citizens. So those who are suffering from addiction related ailments need to be given adequate medical care. It may not be complete rehabilitation; rather it is a kind of alleviating the problems of those addicts who, either out of habit or compulsion, contribute much of their earnings in the form of tax to the State. And the State may partly fund general rehabilitation centres, not ones exclusively for addicts. 95 words
The above points make me conclude that rehabilitation of addicts is not the sole responsibility of the State. Rather people need to be intelligent and thereby stay away from addiction-prone habits and tendencies. No state can fully rehabilitate addicts. 35 words

A Radio program you regularly listen to.
Name the programme
Describe it
Why you like it
Well, there are several popular radio programs.
This is due to the popularity of FM stations.
When it comes to my personal liking,
I would like to speak of a phone-in programme.
It is a musical and it is aired once a day.
To be precise, it is at 1 pm. It lasts for an hour.
The name of the programme is Priyaraagangal:
To put it roughly in English, it can be said,
favourite tunes or songs or something like that…………………..
It works like this:
During the programme itself, listeners are asked to call the station
and talk to the presenter, and the presenter takes up a conversation
with the caller.
This may include breaking some small jokes
Or exchanging pleasantries, enquiring about their interests and hobbies
And, sometimes, there may be a small quiz on film songs and their corresponding films, directors, and actors etc.
and winners are likely to get simple prizes by mail.
On some days, this programme hosts a celebrity
from film or music industry, and callers can talk to them online.
People take it as a great privilege to be talking to such famous people.
I like this programme because, at the end of the conversation,
the caller can suggest a favourite film song to be run
And the same will be aired right-away.
I have got many chances to talk to celebrities.
One additional advantage the listener enjoys is
The he or she can dedicate this particular song to his friends
sweet heart, relatives and neighbours.
Of course, this programme is very popular among youngsters
Naturally, I like it too. Whenever I am home,
I do spare some time enjoying this audio entertainment.

There is an argument that strict attendance is not necessary to ensure quality of higher education as students these days have enormous opportunities to gather information and thereby get prepared to meet any academic quality standards. How far do you agree or disagree with this statement? Jaypees. Level II 1/4/09
Quality of education is ensured by many factors like a curriculum, faculty, timetable, evaluation and a set of rules and regulations, to mention a few. And education is not simply the collecting of information from external sources. So it is hard to endorse the view that strict attendance is not necessary. 45 wordsThe first and foremost factor disagreeing with the view is that strict attendance ensures organized learning. When students are asked to follow strict attendance, they get the feel of a system working towards their holistic academic and personal development. The same will make them pick up much more than academic skills and knowledge. For example: when a student attends class regularly, s/he comes to enjoy the benefits of direct class room learning, regular monitoring by the faculty, and he or she gets evaluated periodically and learns the basics of time management and the need for following rules and regulations. So, strict attendance is crucial. 90 words.
On the other hand, it is very difficult to prove that strict timetable is not necessary just because students these days are able to collect information from other sources. Quality education is not mere collecting of information, and even if one is able to gather all necessary information, a candidate may not be able to meet the challenges of life. And an educated person is supposed to possess many skills and qualities. For example; a self educated person may have great knowledge about a particular field, but it is his other soft skills that go into the making of his success in today’s completive world. 90 words
Therefore, it is right to conclude that strict attendance is as important as any other factor that ensures quality of education: like curriculum, faculty, timetable etc. Education, of all types, needs to stick to some attendance parameters to ensure quality of education. 40 words

Alarming growth in population threatens the world in many ways, and studies show that over population will endanger ecology in more ways than one.How does population growth threaten the ecology?Suggest ways to offset this ecological imbalance? Jaypees. 3/4/09
Humans are facing a very big threat, not from wars or from climate disasters, but from humans themselves. It is population explosion. It threatens the world more than anything else does. And this alarming situation affects the ecological balance in myriad ways, and there are ways to balance it. 45 wordsEcological balance is the ability of the ecology to sustain life on it. When population explodes, the ecology happens to suffer from imbalances. The major one is that the ecology is forced to produce resources much faster than it is able to. For example, over exploitation of natural resource like water: overpopulation depletes ground water level, and this leads to many ecological consequences. Secondly, it is known that when there are more people to be fed than what is available to feed them with, there is pressure on the ecology to produce more. More production means more pollution and waste. Global warming is what it brings about. 90 wordsHow can we offset it? There are many ways. First of all, the present population should realize that nature has rare way of sustaining life on it, and human intervention will cause irreparable damage to it. The point is we should lead our lives with minimum requirements, so that pressure on the ecology could be minimized. Secondly, people need to promote inclusive growth. That is; whenever there is a new development project, we should see the ecological effects of the same. To be precise, all human activities need to be eco-friendly and inclusive. Thirdly, people should avoid luxuries and live life following eco-friendly practices. 95wordsTo conclude it, life on earth is impossible if ecological balance is threatened in anyway. As it is known that population growth is the major threat, we all have to do something to cut down on population. The ways suggested above may go a long way in solving burgeoning issue. 45 wordsJaypees. 3/4/09. 11.4.5. am. 275 words

Controlling population is a personal obligation and social responsibility of all for the welfare of all.Comment on it.
Population is exploding, all the measures to control it notwithstanding. And the world is finding it difficult to meet the rising needs of population and life is becoming difficult in many societies. What is the way out? For the general well being of all, people should take it as their personal obligation and social responsibility. 45 wordsIt is an accepted fact that any change in a given society can be achieved only if people of that society decide to accept a change. Governments many be successful in forming and implementing measures to control population. But when it comes to the results of any such move, it is the people’s response to it that makes the difference. So long as people remain indifferent to a change, not government or enforcement of any rule will bring out any remarkable change in the society. This is true with regard to population control as well. 90 words

Environmentalists world over are urging private and public sector organizations to get their offices automated so that they could, in the long run, do without paper. What do you think are the environmental advantages a paperless office offers? What are the major advantages of an automated office? Jaypees. Level II 1/4/09
Environmental concerns emanating from paper industry are so huge that environmentalists around the world recommend more and more paperless offices, both public and private. It is true that paperless office offers many environmental advantages. And the same way, offices enjoy many advantages when they go paperless. 45 wordsThe primary environmental advantage is that we can save great number of trees because soft wood is the raw material for paper. This leads to protection of green cover and the resultant benefits there of like maintenance of ecological equilibrium, temperature balance, CO2 processing, regular rainfall, to mention a few. Secondly, paper industry generates a lot of waste, and it consumes great amount of water also. If our dependence of paper gets reduced, in the long run, we can do without papers, and avoid many industry-related and environment sensitive situations. 90 wordsThe same way, paperless office offers many advantages, too. First of all, office functioning will be much easier and faster. For example: an automated office, which depends more on IT enabled automation than on paper based one, enjoys a lot of flexibilities. That is; it will be easy to maintain inter-office and intra-office communication. Secondly, it enables faster office functioning. For example; messages and data of all types and sizes can be sent and received in no time, and so the available time can be better converted into money. So, it is right to say paperless offices save money too. 90 wordsConcluding it, the need for finding more environment-friendly office solutions is mounting day by day, and, if offices start to adopt paperless functioning, the future of the planet will be brighter. It’s needless to say, organizations too will benefit from it. 40 words.265 words. jaypee

90 words
The same way, this attitudinal change towards population control alone will be able to a make some visible developments in the society.
